A Bath takeaway has been named in the UK’S 40 best fish and chip shops.

The Oyster Shell, on Moorland Road, features in the list alongside other top eateries from across the nation.

The venue previously won the ‘Best New Business’ at the Bath Life Awards in 2020, and was named as one of the UK’S 50 Best Fish & Chip Takeaways 2021/2022, in Fry Magazine’s prestigious list.

It prides itself on serving high quality food that is sourced by sustainable and responsible methods.

The news comes as the National Fish and Chip Awards 2023 announced the top entries for the best takeout of the Year category in preparation for next year’s ceremony. The awards have been running for more than 30 years, celebrating Britain’s favourite dish, and rewarding the people and businesses at the heart of it.

Commenting on the shortlist, President at The National Federation of Fish Friers, Andrew Crook, said: “Being able to announce the top 40 finalists for this category is an absolute pleasure. It is no secret that the industry are facing some challenges.

“That said, this industry is built upon British stoicism. And with spirit and determination we are committed to supporting our members and seeing through tough times. We cannot wait to celebrate at the awards ceremony in February 2023.”
