You need to get out more, Mr Andrews!
If David Andrews (“Challenge that Ralph might like to take”, Letters, September 22) were to wander around the wonderful traditional Saturday market in the Cattlemarket car park on Walcot Street he would find more metal tablespoons than he could shake a stick at, and much more besides.

■ I was very surprised to read the challenge to Ralph Oswick to find somewhere to buy metal spoons in Bath. Your correspondent needs to get out more!
Ten miles down the Fosseway (A367) in Radstock, ‘the best pre
served former mining town in England’ he can purchase metal spoons (and knives and forks) of both the kitchen and dining room varieties at Thomsons Hardware Store, Fortescue Road, Radstock.
He can also buy garden gnomes, Christmas lights and an apron for when it is his turn to do the washing up.
Being sensitive to environmental issues, Radstock people have not consigned the re-usable metal spoon to the museum yet, but Radstock Museum is worth a visit, if only the for history of clay pipes special exhibition and the History of Methodism in the Radstock area. ■ Mr Andrews said he couldn’t buy a metal spoon in Bath, I suggest he tries Nisbets, 1-3 James Street. As per the article if he is going to provide £50 to donate to a charity I will advise which one.
