‘Beautiful, but deadly’ exhibition set to open

-

A ‘beautiful but deadly’ and very surprising photographic exhibition will be opening in Bath at the end of the month.

“Deadly,” an expose of the dark and different photos of Emma Delves-broughton will open at the Widcombe Social Club, Widcombe Hill on Friday, September 30.

The intention is to make the photographs have an otherworldly quality, but still be beautiful. Beautiful, but deadly.

“I’m so excited to be exhibiting my work again, it’s been a long time,” said Emma. “My last exhibition in London in 2008 was called ‘Seduction’.”

“This is a personal project which I started in 2014, something that I wanted to have fun with.

“A supernatural explosion of sensuality and femininity.”

In 2018 Emma gained a Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS) distinction for her work in this project: the highest level that is awarded.

The Royal Photographic Society’s distinctions are recognised as measures of achievement throughout the world.

“I have styled the models as Vampire, Bride of Frankenstein, Witch, Ghost and various Mythological Creatures and Goddesses.

“I wanted to make this project truly mine, by not only taking the photographs, but also doing the styling, make-up, building up hair with wigs and hairpieces.

“I have also made as many of the props as I can, including some of the clothing.

“A selection of these images were used in my successful submission for a Fellowship to the Royal Photographic Society.”

Emma, who lives and works in Bath has photographed women since the early 1990s. Her work has been published in many magazines and on numerous book and magazine covers.

“I looked back at my earlier work and wanted to pick elements that I had enjoyed most for a new project,” she said.

“Big and crazy hair, strong make-up, plenty of false eyelashes and a love of styling.”
