Players adapt to the changeable autumn weather

Bath ladies played a bowmaker stableford competitio­n last week with 2 out of 3 scores to count. In changeable conditions scoring was excellent with the winners Anne Hitchin, Rachel Brown and Jayne Hopkins scoring 87 points. Second with an impressive 86 were Patricia Lynn, June Harrison and Sandra Nott. Third on 83 were Sandie Moore, Philippa Bevan and Polly Andrews.

Ladies summer knockout competitio­ns have largely been completed and the results are:

Whittuck Cup Singles - Jane Franke beat Lesley Matthews in the final

Silver Vase - winner Josephine Jolliffe beat Stephanie Moorfoot in the final

Boschi Cup - winner Lesley Matthews beat Philippa Bevan in the final

Castle Trophy - winner Patricia Lynn beat Polly Andrews in the final.

Sheila Taylor Foursomes - winners Honor Jones and Helen Oliver who defeated Anita Bye and Linda Hill in the final.

Last Saturday Bath Golf Club’s Captain David Sumsion held his Captains Finale, a bowmaker stableford with mixed teams of four players starting by shotgun. Winners with 102 points were Graham Duckworth, Lee Sumsion, Jill Carter and Sam Laite. In second on 101 were Simon Harris, Michael Frude, Louise Buxton and Mike Renton. Third were Alan Buxton, Pete Glanville, John Fricker and Philippa Bevan on 98. All proceeds to charity Dorothy House.

Bath Golf Club’s recent Platinum Golf Tournament raised nearly £6,000 for Dorothy House and the Children’s Hospice South-west.
