Michael Mcintyre’s the wheel Saturday, BBC1, 5.40pm
This game show is an entertaining and amusing affair where celebrity ‘experts’ try to help the competitors win a life-changing amount of cash.
Tonight, Anton du Beke hopes his knowledge of musicals will come in handy, while Josie Gibson (the West Country), Kadeena Cox (athletics), Tony Blackburn (rock ‘n’ roll) and Nigel Ng (Asian food) are also among the participants.
Completing the line-up are Iain Stirling, who has a narrow field of expertise (it’s Love Island, the show he narrates) and Emma Barnett, who has a very wide one (women).
Antiques Roadshow: 100 YEARS of the BBC Sunday, BBC1, 5.45pm
Fiona Bruce presents a special edition from Alexandra Palace, which marks the Corporation’s centenary.
She is joined by stars from the BBC’S past, including Floella Benjamin, who brings along some of the Play School toys, Anita Dobson, who shows off a few of her costumes from Eastenders, and journalist Kate Adie, who reflects on her time reporting from the world’s hotspots.
Plus, the original Mastermind chair and Del Boy’s green Ford Capri from Only Fools and Horses are among the other famous items brought in.
Made in the 80s: the decade that shaped our world Monday, Channel 4, 9pm
While the BBC reaches its 100th birthday this year, Channel 4 is turning 40.
Back in the 1980s it became known for its diverse, experimental and often challenging programming, something it’s aiming to celebrate with a series of new commissions, and this threepart documentary is one of them.
It aims to chronicle the nation throughout the decade, revealing how a fusion of politics, culture, technology and extraordinary characters reshaped not only Britain,
but perhaps the world too.
Autumnwatch Tuesday, BBC2, 8pm
Autumn is the season which includes such delights as Halloween, Bonfire Night and – as Autumnwatch regulars will know – geese migrating in huge numbers.
This live BBC nature series has become almost as integral to the passing of the seasons as the wildlife events it depicts. So grab a thermos and settle in as Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan return to Wild Ken Hill in Norfolk, picking up where their latest Springwatch left off.
doc Martin Wednesday, ITV, 9pm
It’s the end of an era – not only is this the final episode of the much-loved drama, but Martin and Louisa are leaving Portwenn. Naturally, the locals can’t let the Ellinghams go without throwing a leaving party.
However, it looks like guests of honour Martin and Louisa may be conspicuous by their absence when a farmer gets in touch to say he’s spotted their missing dog.
The Mirror Pride of Britain awards 2022 Thursday ITV, 8pm
Goodness knows we’re all in need of some good news, so the timing of this annual award ceremony, which honours some of the nation’s unsung heroes, couldn’t be better.
Carol Vorderman and Ashley Banjo present from London’s Grosvenor House Hotel as famous faces, including Lionesses captain
Leah Williamson, Michael Sheen and David Beckham, pay tribute to members of the public who have done extraordinary things.
Featuring stories of bravery, selflessness and fundraising feats, expect plenty of surprises and emotional moments.
Mo Gilligan & friends: The Black British Takeover Friday, Channel 4, 11.05pm
Mo Gilligan – The Masked Singer panellist, star of Channel 4’s Lateish Show, and sidekick to Big Narstie – is celebrating the Black British comedy scene and its talents with this TV special.
Filmed at the O2 Arena in December 2021, it features sets from Eddie Kadi, Ola Labib, Slim, Thanyia Moore and Babatunde Aleshe, as well as Mo himself, along with backstage footage, and raw conversations about what the Black British Takeover means to the performers.
