Have a frightfully fun visit to Dyrham Park

-

Halloween adventures have been keeping young people entertained at Dyrham Park near Bath this October half-term.

A family trail with pumpkin-headed scarecrows, new play equipment and free lunches for children are all on offer at the National Trust site. The scarecrow trail runs through the the 270acre park close to the A46 junction until Sunday (October 30).

The parkland and garden are rich with autumn colour but the new feature for young people is the revamped Old Lodge play area.

Stepping logs, play kitchens, balance beams, garden games and a log tunnel were added in the summer alongside the old favourite full-sized red and blue tractors.

This month a new range of five climbing frames for older children were installed.

There is also a new cafe with an ice cream kiosk and toilets all created in restored historic farm buildings.

There are also plenty of picnic benches, both undercover and outdoors, for those who bring their own food and drink.

Dyrham Park is included in a “kids eat free” offer at selected National Trust properties during this half-term week. Children can have a free lunch box for every £5 spent in the main tea-room or cafe at Old Lodge.

Admission to the park costs £14 for adults and £7 for children with free entry for National Trust members. Scarecrow trails are £2 each and include a prize.

Dyrham Park, including Old Lodge play area, is open daily from 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm. The new cafe at the Old Lodge is open from 10.30am until 4pm and the ice cream kiosk will stay open an extra half an hour until 4.30pm.

The tea-room is open from 10.30am until 4.30pm. The house is open between 12pm and 4pm.
