Election was rigged to bring in Sunak

-

It seems that the misogyny of the Conservative party in Parliament has triumphed.

Liz Truss was given the “bum’s rush” and set up as the scapegoat for 12 years of incompetence and misrule.

Now, Penny Mordaunt has been sidelined in a gerrymandered competion, rigged to elect Rishi Sunak (who had the unwavering support of the BBC

from the very beginning). Because the ordinary members could not be trusted to vote the “right way”, the hurdle was raised against her.

Britain has efectivly been without government for a quarter of the year while Boris Johnson was swanning off on an extended overseas Summer vacation.

Wales and Scotland, in contrast, have had functioning governments and first ministers in place the whole time.

Wessex/westsexe could be in the same happy position. If we had our own Westsexish parlaiment, like Scotland and Wales, we, too, could support more of our most needy children with free meals throughout the year.

King Charles I lost his head because of the imposition of the the hated ‘ship’ tax on landlocked counties.

Will Wessex be forced to pay an HS2 tax for a trainline designed to benefit London alone and nowhere else? Wessex needs to keep more of our tax revenue to spend here in Wessex.

Our nation needs more reservoirs, I hear.

Why would the privatised water companies provide them? They are monopolies without competition.

So much for ‘market forces’; we have no choice but to use their water.

They can ignore the general good in pursuit of maximizing their profits even when that means polluting our waters and seas. Their loyalty is to their owners and shareholders; not to us.

It’s another reason why Wessex needs a government; to make sure the reservoirs get built, our water is pure and our rivers and seas are safe.
