-

The fifth round of the Commercial House League was fished on the Bristol Avon at Newbridge.

The river started quite clear, but coloured up a little bit after the heavy, overnight rain. The river fished well again, with 14 double figure weights from the 26 angles - with only one scoring less than 6lbs.

The winner of the match was Andy Richings, fishing for Mosella Bathampton. Drawn on peg 48, he fished the feeder three-quarters across and caught around 20 bream and skimmers on a variety of hook baits. He weighed 81lbs and 9ozs.

Second was Andy Pritchard, also for Mosella Bathampton. He was on peg 40 and caught two-three pounds on the crowquil in the first hour before then fishing the feeder three-quarters across in the slacker water. With worm on the hook, he caught nine bream to finish with 33lbs 4ozs.

Third was Ivan Currie of Sensas Nomads from peg 59. He fished the pole for the first two hours, catching 13lbs of roach, hybrids and perch. He then tried the feeder and had two bream quickly on double worm so he stayed on it, catching two more bream at the end of the match. He weighed 31lbs 1oz.

Paul Purchase (M&N Electrical) was fourth with 27lbs 15ozs, ahead of teammates Mike Goodhind (23lbs 9ozs) and Steve Skelton (19lbs 12ozs).

Mosella Bathampton dropped just two points to take the overall lead in the league. M&N Electrical were second on the day to move up to second overall, seven points behind Mosella. Sensas Nomads were third on the day on 17, two points ahead of Midland Spinner with Crown way behind on three.

Nomads remain third overall, a point behind M&N Electrical with Midland Spinner fourth on 92. Crown sit on 45.
