Jones happy to have settled in during short loan

-

Jacob Jones is pleased to have adjusted so quickly to life at Bath City.

The left-back has arrived from Forest Green Rovers two weeks ago to cover for Dan Greenslade, who aggravated a hamstring injury against Brislington.

Jones, 21, is on a month’s loan and has looked assured in two wins from two.

“I’m absolutely buzzing,” he said. “It’s been two great games to be part of.

“I’m here to get the wins, that’s what football is about.

“I heard of the interest from Jerry and I wanted to go out on loan to play games. When I saw where they were in the league and heard how they like to play there were no second thoughts.

“It’s my job to defend and we’ve got two clean sheets so it’s been a brilliant start.”

Jones has made five appearances for League One Forest Green since switching from Swansea City, representing their under 23s in a friendly against Bath City in August 2021.

The Welshman is training with Bath once a week.

“The lads have been great with me,” said Jones.

“They’ve helped me settle at training.

“It’s my first loan spell. It’s different to League One and Category One Academy football where the ball is mainly on the floor and high pressure, trying to develop as a player.

“Here it’s about winning matches and I think that’s what men’s football is all about.

“At this level it’s a different style because sometimes the pitches aren’t as great. To be fair the one here is excellent.

“Some teams we play have a different approach and for me it’s about learning how to play against them – the aerial balls, when we can go longer, when we can play the ball.

“That’s the transition and I think I’ve settled in quite well.”
