MP meets regimental leaders
Bath MP Wera Hobhouse planted a Remembrance cross with members of the 21st Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare).
Ms Hobhouse met members of the regiment, which is based just outside Bath and has the Freedom of the City, in Parliament’s Garden of Remembrance to recognise the sacrifice made by Armed Forces through all conflicts.
The garden was set up last year to be a reminder of the sacrifices made by constituents nationwide. Each constituency is represented with every MP having an opportunity to plant a tribute in memory of the sacrifices made by those in their community. Each tribute will also bear a handwritten message.
Last year, Ms Hobhouse planted a tribute in memory of the victims of the Bath Blitz.
Ms Hobhouse met Major Clarke Fatchett and RSM WO1 David Bates of the 21st Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare) and their spouses to plant the cross.
She said: “It is so important to recognise the sacrifices that people have made in defence of our freedom. Without them, our lives would be a lot more perilous today.
“It was a pleasure to meet with
Major Fatchett and RSM WO1 Bates. It really brought into perspective the selfless nature of our Armed Forces.”
