Resources should go to other schools

-

At a time when local schools are telling us of the dire financial position they face and the difficulties this presents in maintaining high quality education, what does our council do?

Does it fight for all the schools in BANES?

No - it decides that its priority is to represent Monkton Combe School (a private school) in their attempt to move an ancient footpath and demolish part of the architectural heritage of Combe Down.

The council tells us its resources are very limited and how hard pressed the staff are.

How then, can it justify using council staff to spend their time promoting the interests of a single private school.

Surely what resources it has should be directed towards the wider family of schools and local pupils and families who are in need of further support at this difficult time.

Villagers in Combe Down are astonished and angry at the council’s actions in this matter and will fight it all the way.

Our council says that it has a Green Agenda and promotes itself as a guardian of our heritage. Why then has it decided to promote the destruction of that heritage?

BANES Council should be protecting our heritage and not acting as environmental vandals.
