Rail lines closed as person dies

A person died after an incident on the railway tracks between Bristol Temple Meads and Bath Spa.

All lines were blocked in the area as emergency services dealt with the incident at Oldfield Park station last on Wednesday, November 9.

British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed that, following the incident, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokespers­on for BTP said on Wednesday: “British Transport Police were called to Oldfield Park station at 2.28pm today (November 9) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, and a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are currently working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
