6Rent the Runway
Want a little black dress With a designer label – but at a fraction of the price? the answer is to hire yourself some high fashion, says Emma Johnson
Unless you’ve had a sneaky win on the euromillons, chances are you are feeling the pinch right now.
With the cost-of-living crisis and bills going up, up, up, your wardrobe is probably the last place you are going to be splashing the cash.
As party season approaches though, the temptation to buy a new frock can be almost as strong as the mulled wine.
But what if there was a way to look a million dollars without spending it?
Well, there is. The last couple of years has seen a boom in the fashion rental market. Sites like Hurr Collective, By Rotation and Girl Meets Dress allow you to rent dresses from designers including The Vampire’s Wife, Ganni, Reformation and Self Portrait.
If you want to go really high end at My Wardrobe HQ and Selfridges Rental you can borrow pieces by the likes of Alexander Mcqueen, Saint laurent, Jaquemus and Off White for a fraction of what it would cost you to buy them.
Meanwhile, at the other end of the
spectrum, sites like Hirestreet allow you to borrow pieces from brands like Zara, M&S and Asos from as little as £12.
It means that this Christmas you can say yes to the little black dress.. you just can’t keep it forever!
