Success to end campaign
from the Baskervilles School of Gymnastics had a successful day of competition at the final West Country League match of 2022.
Held at the Wiltshire School of Gymnastics, the competition involved four pieces of apparatus: floor, vault, beam and bar. Medals were available to be won on each individual apparatus, as well as for overall performance, with a trophy being awarded to the overall series champions.
Baskervilles’ Division Three A League team stormed to success, finishing in gold medal position overall. Congratulations were given to Ruby-rose Eyles, Isla Baird, Hettie-jean Wilson-worgan, Phoebe Mitchell, Sophie Sweetman and Rubie Pargeter on the win. Individual competition highlights include Phoebe coming first on both the vault and floor and bronze on the beam to secure overall first place gold.
The Division Three B League side continued to dominate the competition, also being crowned overall champions of their series. Congratulations were given to Grace Witcher, Sophie Napp, Lucy Edwards, Willow Thomas and
Rosie Dobson. Some notable performances included Sophie claiming bronze on the floor and an overall fourth, as well as Rosie and Lucy placing joint-fourth on the bars.
The Division 2 C League team also had a successful showing at the competition, claiming overall bronze despite this being the very first time they have competed at this level. Congratulations went to Matilda Willingham, Phoebe Lewis, Evie Wilkins, Olive Courtney-bye and Beth Turner on a brilliant performance. There were an array of individual highlights for this squad, including Evie winning gold on bars and Phoebe placing second individually.
Baskervilles thanked squad coaches Fran Baskerville, Rachel Down, Surya Bhamidimarri and Kiera Williams for their hard work and dedication in preparing the girls for the competition.
Head squad coach Fran said: “I am so proud of each of the performances at the final of the West Country League. The girls as well as the coaching team have worked so hard this year. We are now preparing for our exciting Christmas display.”
