Shirts auction to help appeal

Bath Rugby is offering fans around the world the unique opportunit­y to bid on the Blue, Black & White players’ worn and signed poppy shirts from their huge last-minute win against Leicester Tigers.

All shirts were placed on auction at kick-off via matchworns­hirt. co.uk/poppy with the proceeds raised going to the Royal British Legion. The auction runs out in three days’ time (November 29) and so far over £7,000 has been raised. Ollie Lawrence’s shirt currently has the highest bid at £600, with shirts from Arthur Cordwell, Johannes Jonker, Josh Bayliss, Wesley White, Niall Annett and Tom Ellis all currently available for under £150.

Each year, Premier League and EFL football clubs auction their shirts to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal. Bath Rugby are the first Premiershi­p club to join this annual tradition making each of their players shirts available to fans around the world.

Your poppy shows you care and helps the RBL to continue its vital work. The Armed Forces have always been committed to protect our freedoms and our society’s way of life. From maintainin­g security and peace around the world to supporting during natural disasters and national emergencie­s, the Armed Forces play many roles in our protection.

Wearing your poppy shows serving personnel, veterans and their families their service and sacrifice means something to you and will never be forgotten. We come together once a year in a national moment to demonstrat­e our gratitude for and pride in the whole Armed Forces community, past and present. Since the First World War, rememberin­g the unique contributi­on of our Armed Forces has been part of the fabric of society.
