Viva la vegan!

Bath Vegan Christmas Festival has plenty to offer visitors this weekend – here, we take a look at a few of the highlights

-

THe Bath Vegan Christmas Festival is a huge vegan extravaganza taking place on Saturday (November 26) at Bath Pavilion. This indoor event has more than

80 stalls, world food caterers and free food samples. As well as offering a wide variety of vegan produce, including cakes and chocolate, hot takeaway food, make-up, clothing, pet treats and cheese, there will be plenty of stalls giving inspiration for some great Christmas gifts.

Festival organiser Victoria Bryceson said: “I’m really looking forward to the Bath Vegan Christmas Festival, which is set to be even bigger and better than last year’s. We received so much positive feedback last year and there’s now so much demand that it is becoming a sell-out event. “I think it’s partly because people really love the friendly atmosphere. The wonderful thing about the event is that it’s for everyone whatever your lifestyle. Just come along and bring your friends for a great, fun day out. “You’ll have everything you need there, whether you’re looking for some festive gifts, some ‘me’ time, precious family time or just a lovely meal out with some friends.”

Somerset-based Bath Culture House will be selling its range of hand-made naturally fermented, artisan and raw food and drink, ranging from fresh kimchi and sauerkraut to tangy kombucha and vegan “chease”. There will be delicious doughnuts and pies from Bristol-based Stop Ya Beefin’, and Vdogs will be selling its irresistible range of freshly cooked to order vegan hotdogs.

Local charities Viva! and Avon Wildlife Trust will also be exhibiting. Also attending is Miracle’s Mission, a non-profit animal welfare organisation that works with sick, injured and disabled animals worldwide. Its aim is to provide a place of safety for animals in danger, to educate on the needs of neutering both pets and strays, and to neuter stray dogs and cats to prevent the birth of more animals on to the streets. It also rehabilitates and rehomes dogs in need, often with disabilities, from its UK rescue base.

Bath Vegan Christmas Festival helps raise funds for Miracle’s Mission. All proceeds made will go directly to animal welfare charities as the festival is volunteer-run.

Other stalls include one selling Bo’s Book, a new vegan cookbook that could make a great Christmas gift and features simple, easy-to-follow recipes (for both dogs and humans) with all the profits going to help needy dogs at Miracle’s Mission.
