MP says many OAPS missing out on benefit
Bath MP Wera Hobhouse has urged eligible constituents to apply for Pension Credit – applications made by December 18 can be backdated and include the £324 cost of living payment.
Pension Credit helps low-income pensioners with living costs by providing more than £3,300 per year on average.
It is also a ‘passporting benefit’ that can give claimants access to schemes such as the free TV licence for over-75s, and now cost of living support payments.
The benefit can be backdated for up to three months.
Ms Hobhouse said: “Pension Credit is an important way for elderly people to make the most of the support which is available to them.
“Pension Credit is a consistently under-claimed benefit and there are likely still many eligible people in Bath who are missing out.”
