Design won’t be safe for bus passengers

-

Who is responsible for the design for the new cycle way and bus stops on Upper Bristol Road?

I am writing this as a bus driver whose passengers have had narrow misses (to date) getting off along this stretch.

How can it be a safe design when passengers have to leave the pavement, cross a cycle lane and stand on a narrow “island” before getting on and off a bus?

There are more passengers than cyclists, so to whose benefit is this new scheme supposed to be?

In addition, the location of the new parking spaces are equally nonsensical.

A) people won’t park within the lines thus restricting an already narrowed carriageway.

B) car passengers will open doors into oncoming cyclists. They themselves could be hit by cyclists.

The whole scheme is lacking in common sense and basic risk assessment. Never mind how much it has cost to date…
