Do families really have to have a car?
I speak as an admirer of Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein, but does Adam Leon, one of its partners, really need a car to take his child “up Lansdown hill” each day (does he mean Lansdown Road?)?
Even if the route is too steep to cycle fully, surely a bike could be ridden at least part of the way, or it could be walked, and buses are presumably available.
He defies local councillors to raise a family in Bath without a car, but many must have done so over the years.
