British troops and their families pose alongside native African men for a photograph at a military facility in what is now Zimbabwe, between 1896 and 1900. The image is one of a series of photographs of the 19th-century Scramble for Africa, taken by W Rausch, to have recently been rediscovered and put up for auction.
