Victor Goddard

BBC History Magazine - - WWI Eyewitness Accounts -

Wembley-born Victor served as a midshipman aboard HMS Britannia from 1914–15, then on airships with the Royal Naval Air Service until 1918.

When the war was over, he moved on to a distinguished career in the RAF, rising to air marshal before retiring in 1951. An apparently clairvoyant experience he had while flying inspired him to become an author and lecturer on extrasensory perception and the paranormal – and was the basis for a film, The Night My Number Came Up (1955).
