Heavenly inspiration
The man who wrote the words to the popular Christmas carol ‘In Dulci Jubilo’ is said to have heard angels singing them. Heinrich Seuse (or Henry Suso) was a German friar and mystic of the 14th century.
In a medieval biography, the author describes Seuse’s depression, before stating that angels arrived and one of them “began a joyous song about the infant Jesus”. The others then told Seuse he must “cast off all his sorrows” and “dance with them in heavenly fashion”.
