I ab­so­lutely loved the ad­ver­tise­ment for Liebig’s meat ex­tract, de­pict­ing the pre­miere of Wag­ner’s Siegfried Idyll at Trib­schen on Christ­mas Day 1870 (‘Time­piece’, Christ­mas). What the con­nec­tion is between these two de­lights I don’t know, but I do know that trom­bones, a drum and more than one trum­pet weren’t part of the line-up!
