I no­ticed what might be an er­ror in the editor’s ‘Wel­come’ col­umn con­cern­ing the birth and na­tion­al­ity of Bux­te­hude. I al­ways thought he was Dan­ish, not the ‘Dutch Mas­ter’ as you sug­gest. As far as I know he was born in Hels­ing­borg – now in Swe­den, but then in Denmark. Were I not mar­ried to a Dane, who is proud of such a fine Dan­ish com­poser and or­gan­ist, I might well have failed to no­tice! Peter Odling-smee, Devon The editor replies: You are right!
