ONLINE IN DECEMBER BBC Arts
BBC Arts Online brings together arts projects and coverage from across the BBC, with a mix of new and archive documentaries, films and footage from events and festivals across the UK.
Something that caught our attention on BBC
Arts this month is an archive film following the rehearsal process and production of Goldberg Variations – ternary patterns for insomnia,a collaboration between the Scottish Ensemble and Andersson Dance. Featuring 11 string players and five dancers, it interprets Bach’s renowned variations in a new and surprising way.
Also worth mentioning on BBC Arts is Rambert’s 2016 dance staging of Haydn’s The Creation at Garsington, which combines contemporary dance with oratorio. The staging is as ambitious as the music, with over 50 dancers and 70 musicians.
There are also performance photos and videos, as well as rehearsal footage, of the unique 2015 performance of Tippett’s 1977 opera The Ice Break, staged in a disused Birmingham warehouse. Visit BBC Arts at www.bbc.co.uk/arts
