Daniel Kramer is to quit as artistic director of English National Opera when the current season closes in July. The American’s sudden departure comes as something of a surprise, given that he has been in post at the Coliseum for less than three years. He will, though, remain with the company in a consultancy role until the end of the year to oversee the productions of four operas based on the Orpheus myth.
