Jane Darby Redditch Many thanks to all the inspiring players who took part in this year’s BBC Young Musician competition on TV – I was absolutely glued to my screen, especially in the Grand Final. Though percussionist Jordan Ashman was an excellent winner, I felt all of the finalists deserved the trophy. My personal favourite was pianist Ethan Loch, whose Chopin performances in both the Keyboard Final and the Grand Final showed poise and maturity beyond his years. I do hope he is planning to make a recording!
