How you can join in…

Last year we launched our Local Patch Reporters project, inviting g readers to record their local wildlife sightings in online blogs.

Among them were photographers, nature writers, film-makers, young ambassadors for nature, and teachers. Two ended up working for the BBC’s Natural History Unit, one was a finalist in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, and many were interviewed on radio and local TV.

This year we are throwing open the doors to everyone who wants to get involved, and we are introducing our Nature Journal Awards for wildlife blogs.

To enter you need to set up your own blog and post updates on our forum in the Local Patch Reporters section. You’ll find details there of what you need to do, and we’ll be featuring your posts in the magazine over the year.

Camera-traps are a great way to get images for your blog.
