A nostalgic feature

- Ludovic Abrassart, Belgium

I loved the Derek Niemann artticle about cormorants (Thhe All Blacks, April 20017), which are fasscinating birds. The arrticle reminded me of timme shared with my laate father. When I was a student, he drove me too university by car, and evvery morning we saw a cormorant. It was either perchingp on a lamp post in the industrial complex, drying its wings or waiting for the right moment to dive. My father passed away five years ago, but every time I go to work and see a cormorant perching, it reminds me of those moments that I shared with him. Anna Bunney, education coordinator for ORCA, replies: Years ago, sailors used to refer to orcas as whale killers, when they were observed hunting and eating whales, such as humpback calves. This nickname has changed over time to killer whale.
