Secrets of the Dinosaur Crater TV BBC TWO

Due to air in May. See RT for details. Since the discovery of the Chicxulub crater in the 1970s, it has been pretty clear that the extinction of the dinosaurs was down to a rather large asteroid colliding with Earth. Presented by Alice Roberts and Ben Garrod, this one-off special for BBC Twowo delves into this cataclysmi ic event and the chaot tic aftermath of shockwaves, tsunamis and nuclear winte er that followed, which crippled d photosynthesis, triggered massive climate change and d killed off 75 per cent of life on Earth. “The resulting impact crater was 30km deep and 120km wide,” says Ben. “We’re joining scientists drilling 1,000m down into the crater, trying to get to the bottombot of an event that wiped ou t the most iconic group of ani imals that ever lived.”
