5 FACE TO FACE
While weeding in the garden in mid-September, I noticed a pair of beady eyes watching me from the pond. I ran inside to get my camera and started to snap away. The common frog was totally unfazed as I got closer and closer to it with my camera lens. In the end, I managed to take this photo without having to use my zoom at all. When I looked at the image on my laptop, I was very pleased that the amphibian gave me plenty of time to take its picture. Paul Toplis, Lowestoft, UK
