Fantastic five
Niki Rust’s fascinating article on cheetah coalitions (Bands of Brothers, Spring 2018) reminded me of the team of five we saw in the Maasai Mara, Kenya, last year.
Unusually, they were not all related and are still together this year, and in fact there is a definite pecking order. They are able to bring down a fully grown wildebeest, which seemed to provide enough meat for all of them. Our excellent guide from the Kicheche Mara North camp thought they were doing so well that there was no interest in finding females. Andrew Griffin, Rutland
