FROZEN IN MID-AIR

While visiting Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming with some friends, I was lucky enough to glimpse this red fox hunting a small mammal. The canids are nocturnal but during the winter they increase their activity around dawn and dusk and sometimes in broad daylight. The fox dived into the snow three or four times, and was completely unfazed by our presence because we kept our distance. I was exhilarated when I discovered I had captured the action on camera as I knew I had a slim chance of getting a shot like this. Conor Molloy, Macclesfield, UK
