CREATING A POND
Building a watery haven is one of the best things you can do for nature.
Size doesn’t matter because ponds no larger than a sink can still attract aquatic creatures from the surrounding neighbourhood.
Including aquatic plants will increase the biodiversity of your pond. Marginal plants offer perches for dragonflies and flora below the surface will provide a safe place for freshwater inhabitants to hide from predators and lay their eggs.
A range of depths will appeal to different species. Make sure your pond has shallow, shelved areas that hold warmer water and deeper, darker, colder spaces.
