The Future of the Countryside

Britain’s post-Brexit food security has made headlines recently, with the National Farmers’ Union claiming that the UK – which today produces only 60 per cent of what it needs – would run out of food by August each year in the event of a no-deal Brexit. So this four-way debate on the nation’s farming future, hosted by Costing the Earth regular Tom Heap, is particularly timely. Join a farmer, an agricultural scientist, a green economist and a food campaigner as they discuss how public investment should best be spent to ensure both increased food production capacity and the raft of environmental benefits that the government says is its priority.
