Apply the brakes this Christmas Eve – sit down with a sherry and a roaring fire to spend three hours in company of author and journalist Horatio Clare, as he walks deep into a German forest, revelling in the magic and mystery of his wild surroundings. This is a ‘slow radio’ walk and the last instalment in BBC Radio 3’s recent Into the Forest season. ‘Slow radio’ is designed to help people escape the frenzy of life, offering a “mindful experience, a place, a haven, where people can lose themselves in audio and sonic experiences.” As Horatio wanders among the trees, listeners can share his acute observations of the natural environment in real-time, taking in all the sounds, signs and sensations of an ancient winter forest.
