It’s not only gen­der that is flex­i­ble in the life of a slip­per limpet – its feed­ing strat­egy can also be swapped around. Sci­en­tists think that ju­ve­nile slip­per limpets can move about and graze, only turn­ing to fil­ter feed­ing when they fi­nally set­tle down and the needs of adult life start to take prece­dent.
