Sustainable population?

-

In response to Susan Francis’s letter (Human Population, Feedback, November 2018),

I would like to add that the human population is increasing by 80 million people a year! How can an intelligent race of humans think this is right and sustainable, and allow it to happen? Unfortunately, it is in our genes to breed without thinking about the consequences. Where I live in New Zealand the problem is almost never aired in the media.

I would suggest that, at this time in Earth’s history, it is wrong for couples to have children at all. We should educate people worldwide to this effect, even if we have slipped up and had children ourselves. Stephen Conn, New Zealand
