River Walks
MONDAYS UNTIL 18 FEBRUARY, 7.30PM, BBC ONE
If the indulgences of the festive season leave you itching to get out into the fresh air and walk off several dozen mince pies (or is that just me?), this series is bound to offer some timely inspiration. Each of the 11 episodes sees a new presenter focusing on a different English region and its rivers. Following the water’s course, we discover the local countryside, history, flora and fauna – from wild swimming and otter spotting in Hampshire to canoeing and meeting llamas in Yorkshire. “In River Walks, we showcase the natural beauty to be found up and down England,” says Stuart Thomas, head of programmes BBC England. “I hope we inspire viewers to get out and about in the great outdoors and follow in the footsteps of our presenters along these spectacular walking routes.”
