Mixed emotions

The interview with Noah Strycker (Meet the Author, November 2018) left me with a twinge of envy, but also despair. Envy? Well, who amongst the readers of BBC Wildlife would not wish to travel the world watching wildlife? But then despair when I think of the 41 countries and seven continents visited, and the environmental damage caused. It highlights the dilemma facing all lovers of the natural world. Of course, our passion and curiosity drive us to visit faraway places, but is our love contributing to the destruction of the very places and creatures we want to see? John Coldwell, France
