SLUG SOLUTION

Young spring seedlings are particularly vulnerable to slug damage but, instead of toxic slug pellets, try using wool pellets, which swell when wet and form an abrasive mat that slugs find difficult to traverse.

LET IT GROW

Leave dandelions alone. This early bloomer is vital for bees and other hungry pollinators when little else is available.

LAZY LAWNS

Hold back on that first cut of the year. Even a few more inches of grass create a much-needed habitat and food source for wildlife. Find RSPB advice at bit.ly/mowless
