1 Pretty in pink

BBC Wildlife Magazine - - Our Wild World -

I was visiting Cromwell Bottom, my local nature reserve, with my daughter who spotted this pink meadow grasshopper. We found about 10 and it took 30 minutes to get one to finally stay still. Chris Smith, Halifax, UK

2 Fish fight

I visited the Farne Islands in June last year, as I had heard of the great number of seabirds there. Almost every time this Atlantic puffin returned with sandeels, the black-headed gull would launch an attack and try to steal its catch. CK Teo, Singapore

3 Face off

We were on a trip to see and photograph polar bears in western Hudson Bay, Canada. This bear was travelling through the territory of a resident pack of wolves when it came nose to nose with an alpha male. Russell Milner, Bownesson-Windermere, UK

4 Seeing in the dark

One morning, I was searching my backyard for some interesting macro subjects to photograph. I found this tiny wolf spider inside a crack of wood and used a lower aperture to get a greater depth of field. Soumadeep Das, West Bengal, India

5 Reptile on the run

I was in Khao Yai National Park filming pigtail macaque monkeys when I spotted this Indo-Chinese water dragon watching me. I was able to approach it, but once I took the shot, it ran away as fast as it could. Ranchana Butler, Bangkok, Thailand
