Rockpool star
Every rockpooler worth their salt wants to find the ‘fab four’, comprising the eel-like common blenny, shore crab, beadlet anemone and common prawn. Almost wholly transparent, this crustacean vanishes against a background of sand, seaweed or rock, only revealing itself when it darts out, propelled by five pairs of swimming legs. Lightningfast reactions make it tricky to catch; you are better off simply standing in the shallows and waiting for the creature’s inquisitive nature to drive it towards your feet.
