CRUISE ON THE WILD SIDE

If you’re looking for a holiday that brings you closer to wildlife, Princess Cruises will take you right there

-

WHEN WILDLIFE IS your passion, you’ll travel to the ends of the earth to spot some of nature’s greatest creations – given half a chance. Now, it’s even easier, and more enjoyable to embark on a voyage of discovery with Princess Cruises. Whether you’re fascinated by creatures that hide in the depths of the jungle, soar through the air, swim in the deep blue sea or exist in some of the world’s most inhospitable terrain, here are a few ways to search them out:

ON THE GROUND

One of the most incredible places to see land-loving animals is in Bali. As part of a Treasures of Asia cruise, you can venture to the Ubud Monkey Forest, home to around 340 Balinese long-tailed monkeys who swing from what are considered to be holy trees. Or see monkeys hanging in the aromatic nutmeg trees at the Sangeh Monkey Forest. Back onboard, you can enjoy a delicious meal in the Kai Seafood Bar and relive your unforgettable animal encounters.

IN THE AIR

Mallorca has long been known as one of the best places in the Mediterranean for bird watching, with hundreds of species to tick off. Cruise here and you can roam on foot, explore by bicycle, or join one of the Discovery and Animal Planet shore excursions. Norway is an incredible destination for lovers of feathered friends too. Bring your binoculars for a fascinating trip to see the sea eagles, cormorants, razorbills, kittiwakes and puffins that call the islands around the Norwegian coast home.

UNDER THE SEA

The Great Barrier Reef has to be one of the planet’s most breathtaking sights. Teeming with colourful underwater oddities, as well as some incredible ocean giants, it’s a once seen, never forgotten experience. Book a scenic flight to see the beauty of the reef from the air, take to the water in a glass-bottomed boat or immerse yourself in its glory with a snorkelling adventure. Then when you’re all wildlifed-out, you can soak away the day back onboard in the luxury surroundings of the Lotus Spa.

IN THE MOUNTAINS

For a really big wildlife experience, it has to be Alaska. Where else can you see bears fishing for salmon, mammoth humpbacks leaping from icy-cold waters, or caribou, moose and grey wolves roaming freely in the Denali National Park? You can even view the majestic beauty of a glacier from your stateroom private balcony as you cruise through Glacier Bay National Park. When that excitement is over, the clink of ice in a glass marks the start of another wonderful evening in the Wheelhouse Bar.
