Wildlife champion Comedian Rob Newman on why Hawaiian bobtail squid are so fascinating

When Hawaiian bobtail squid hatch, they need to find the glowing bacterium Vibrio fischeri. Once the two meet, the bacteria must tolerate toxic substances, swim into tiny ducts where they’re hit with acid, and finally get to the crypt where bacteria will reside for the squid’s lifetime.
