TRAVEL WITH PURPOSE
Asilia Africa guides you on a safari with a difference
Eco-travel is quickly becoming a favoured way of travelling and at Asilia, we understand the importance of eco-friendly and sustainable tourism and believe that when practised responsibly, tourism can be a driving force in both the conservation and development of East Africa. This belief guides everything we do — from where we source our energy and materials used at camps, to how we hire and empower local staff and work alongside community and conservation programmes.
UNIQUE AND AUTHENTIC
Looking for a unique and authentic safari experience, founded on citizen science and conservation? Head south!
Usangu Expedition Camp is a seasonal camp situated on the banks of the Usangu wetlands, in the beautiful and remote location of Ruaha National Park, Tanzania. With access to a private greenfuelled vehicle and expert guide, Usangu Expedition Camp offers a wide range of activities, with a strong emphasis on conservation, providing a rich and immersive safari experience that will leave you with a deeper appreciation of Ruaha’s wildlife and those working to protect it.
As the season progresses, wildlife begins to congregate around the swamps, increasing sightings of lion, leopard, herds of elephant, buffalo, and antelope such as sable and roan. With a bit of luck, it may be possible to spot wild dog in the short grass plains.
The Douglas Bell Eco Research Station is the central hub for all research and conservation efforts taking place in Usangu Wetlands. Situated alongside Usangu Expedition Camp, it allows guests to engage with researchers and develop a deeper understanding of the important work being conducted in the region.
