MAKE AN INSECT FEEDER

Create a simple fake flower that will attract bees, butterflies and other insects in search of a sugary drink – and give you close-up views

-

You will need: Card, plastic bottle top, a stick, tape, glue, pot with soil or sand in it, cotton wool, sugar

1. Draw and colour in a flower on a piece of card. Bright blues and reds work best. Cut it out. 2. Glue the plastic bottle top in the centre, base facing in. This will be your ‘nectar’ reservoir. 3. Tape the flower to the stick and plant the stick firmly into the pot filled with soil or sand. 4. Dissolve the sugar in warm water and soak the wool in it. Put the wool into the bottle top. 5. Place the feeder in your garden and wait for your first customers to arrive.
