COUNTRYFILE
BBC ONE, 6.30PM, SUNDAYS
25 June Countryfile films a man in Carmarthenshire who uses a remotecontrolled robot falcon to train other falcons how to hunt. The show also looks at the dogs trained in Wales who help combat poaching in Africa, and at how beavers are used to manage woodland. 2 July In Worcestershire, the show follows the elderflower harvest. Nurses Cottage is a traditional maker of elderflower cordials, and owner Lucy reveals her methods. The team also meet horticulturalist Edmund Brown who grows a strain of elderflower with flowers as big as a dustbin lids. 16 July Only 11 people live on the Isle of May in the outer Firth of Forth, in a row of cottages called ‘Fluke Street’. But the isle has the largest east coast population of puffins – 46,000 pairs. Chicks hatch at the end of May, so by June’s end the entire colony is feeding chicks: a swirling mass of puffins with fish in their mouths.
