ISLE OF WIGHT WALKING FESTIVAL

-

Sail across to the Island this spring for the Isle of Wight Walking Festival, a friendly celebration of walking and the great outdoors. Taking place between 7th and 15th May 2022, the IW Walking Festival is one of the UK’s largest events of its kind – this year including the iconic ‘Walk the Wight’ in aid of Mountbatten Hospice on Sunday 8th May.

Nine days of exploration and adventure across the Isle of Wight’s unique and unspoiled landscape, routes are led by a volunteer Walk Leader, each with a passion for rambling, nature, and the Island’s rich heritage. With over 50% of the Isle of Wight deemed an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and one of few places with UNESCO Biosphere status, walkers can expect breath-taking views around every corner and an opportunity to fall in love with walking on the Island alongside likeminded people.

The first of two Walking Festivals in 2022, the May event promises walks full of colour and life set against the vibrant backdrop of spring time. Discover an intricate network of footpaths through country and along the coast, decorated with blossoming flowers and botanicals, framed by lush greenery, and shared with thriving wildlife. Delight at spring lambs in the fields, bunnies on the marshes, red squirrels in the trees and birds of prey overhead as you explore the wild Isle.

Join us for a week, stay for a weekend or pop over for the day, the Isle of Wight Walking Festival is a fun and welcoming event for walkers of all ages, ability, and mobility – and most of the walks are free! From steep climbs and leg burning challenges, to flat wanders with tea and cake along the way – there is something for everyone. The Walking Festival offers a rare opportunity to escape and explore, to disconnect from the day to day and reconnect with nature and new people in an amazing location.
