PÁRAMO: ENGINEERED TO LAST A LIFETIME
30 years since Nick Brown founded Páramo Directional Clothing and started working with the Miquelina Foundation in Colombia, the ethical high performance clothing brand continues to pride itself on its legacy of longevity, repairability and recyclability.
Designing garments that will never become obsolete has always been at the heart of Páramo. All garments can be cleaned and reproofed easily at home using Nikwax® waterproofing aftercare. When repair or alterations are needed Páramo’s dedicated repair workshop, founded 25 years ago, services around 4500 garments a year. To optimise the use of each garment, Páramo provides the opportunity to tradein Páramo kit for new, the old kit is then restored and often re-sold, giving them a second life. The chemical-free Nikwax Analogy® waterproof fabric system used in Páramo’s garments avoids the need for mixed materials, membranes or taped seams making them uniquely suited for recycling. So, when beyond repair, old unwanted garments are sent to be recycled into new polyester, ensuring nothing goes to landfill.
Whether your garment needs repairing, altering or is simply no longer needed, by returning it to Páramo you know that it will always be looked after on its new adventure.
Innovating and striving to change the way the outdoor industry interacts with the wider world was Nick Brown’s radical thinking 30 years ago and now, as an Employee-Owned Trust, social and ecological founding values will be maintained.
